Underwater Archaeology
Continues the archaeological site on the island of Mazzorbetto, where, in addition to the plane of blocks already reported, another anomaly was detected during the months of July and August has been the subject of in-depth investigation by our operators, direct from underwater archaeologist Dr. Stefano Medas.
The area that yielded positive results during the sondinatura was highlighted in a pre-excavation bucket, assisted by divers completed with manual excvation.
The area was found to be safe archaeological interest since this is probably a bank protection or argine with the presence of a palisade. It was found much material for the sales pitch consists mainly of tiles, fragments of amphorae, tiles etc.
The relief of the structure took place with virtually no visibility . To achieve the underwater photographic documentation had to resort to the use of the " water cone " that has given good results .
Now we await the results of radiocarbon and dendrochronological tests to be carried out on wood samples taken and that will allow the timing of the structure.
